This year I wanted to make something extra special for my husband and found this cute idea for a Christmas countdown. The cards took a little extra time to make, but I think it is totally worth it. I used my 12X12 Christmas paper stacks, buttons, ribbon, clothes pins, glue, and a paper cutter.
First I cute out several different sized cards and glued patterned paper to the front to make it look extra Christmasy. The numbers were from one of the paper stacks that I have. These could also be handwritten (I have terrible handwriting so this was not an option for me) or printed on the computer. I then added a few buttons here and there. Ribbon, stickers, and other embellishments would also look great. Inside of each card I added a little love note, special Christmas activities that we will be doing, or reward cards (like a massage). A majority of the cards are just little notes telling him things I love about him. I used gold sparkle paper for the 12th and 25th. The 12th is his birthday and the 25th is obviously Christmas so it had to stand out.
I hung the ribbon on the wall with small pins and then added the cards with clothes pins. I put the countdown on the wall on December 1st and he was totally surprised. I think it looks super cute and adds a nice touch to our Christmas decorations. I did not have a plain wall to hang it on, but if you do that may look a little better.
