Red, White, and Blue Star Topiaries

I made these star topiaries for our 4th of July table decoration. They are very simple to make and look absolutely darling. A little time consuming, but overall very simple. I used my Cricut Expressions machine to cut out the stars. You could use a punch or cut them by hand, but would be very time consuming. The Cricut Expressions machine is actually on sale for $169 with free shipping on Amazon, normally $299!

What you will need:

First I cut out the stars using my Cricut Expressions machine. There are over 100 stars on each ball so this was the quickest way to do it. I cut them 1 1/4  inch with solid red, white, and blue paper. If you are making these for a different occasion, other than the 4th, any color would work just as great.

After the stars were cut I simply pined them to the Styrofoam balls and slightly overlapping each one. This process takes a while so put on a good movie and start pinning away.

I then just cut the wooden dowel to the length I wanted, filled the pots with sand, and inserted the dowel into the sand. For easy storage take the wooden dowel out and disconnect the Styrofoam balls.

I really love the way these look and will probably be making these in different colors for our future parties.
